Out of all the attractive men in India, why was he chosen? Boggles my mind. I have my own theory. I think both him and his costar Basant Bhatt are closet gays and probably sleeping with the director/producer. We have seen private nudes of Basant.
He also does drag a lot in the show. It's one of those shows I'm surprised goes on for so long. Many other mythological shows with more attractive muscular men like Mayavi Maling, Chandra Nandini, Siya Ke Ram, etc didn't last that long unfortunately.
